The pool fundraiser challenge is officially underway, and the momentum is building.

Our goal is to raise funds for the development of a much-needed school pool, a space that will support swimming, sport, and water safety for our learners for years to come. This initiative forms part of our commitment to developing well-rounded learners and investing in the future of WKS.

The Class of 1984 has set the standard with an incredible R18 000 contribution, and the Class of 1990 has already stepped in to raise the stakes. We now call on all Old Scholars to get involved, rally your class, and be part of this meaningful project.

Donations are made through our BackaBuddy campaign, which qualifies as a Section 18A tax-deductible contribution. Follow the link below to support the cause, and remember to use your class year as a reference.

Let’s come together, make an impact, and see which class rises to the challenge.

Aqua Ubuntu

Ubuntu – “I am because we are.”

In Africa, this simple but powerful idea reminds us that we belong to one another.
That no child should ever be left behind.
That we grow stronger when we grow together.

The Wartburg Kirchdorf School, situated in Wartburg, KwaZulu-Natal, is home to approximately 480 learners from preschool through Grade 12. Since 1881, the school has stood as a pillar of education, diversity, and community.

Our learners come from a variety of backgrounds, with many having little to no access to swimming facilities. Yet swimming is a vital life skill that every child deserves the opportunity to learn.

Currently, our learners must travel by bus to access a swimming pool on the opposite side of town. This not only takes away valuable learning time, but the facility itself—large and deep—can be overwhelming and intimidating, particularly for younger children.

Recent severe flooding events in South Africa have been a stark reminder:
the ability to swim is not a luxury—it is a life-saving skill.

A safe, dedicated swimming pool on our school grounds would transform lives:
- Improved safety
- Increased confidence
- More effective use of learning time
- Equal access to opportunity for every child
- Equipping our learners with lilfe skills

This project is more than infrastructure.
We are not just building a swimming pool.
We are building safety.
We are building confidence.
We are building community.
We are building the future.

Every contribution—no matter the size—brings us closer to making this vision a reality.

Because Ubuntu reminds us:
I am because we are.

Help us protect and empower our children.
Your support provides them with safety, opportunity, and a skill that could one day save a life.

Section 18A certificates are available upon request.
